National Museum Of Qatar
The Corniche, Doha
The National Museum of Qatar was designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel. The complex form of the desert rose, found in Qatar’s arid desert regions, was his inspiration during the design of this remarkable building.

With the aim of highlighting the unique architecture of the Gallery 13, archlum created a strong contrast of light and dark. By using track-lights in the main area, focus was given to the artworks and objects. For general lighting, corridor and entrance, a special microfacet optic designed by Bartenbach GmbH was preferred, for assisting the orientation and allowing the open feeling of the space.

Concept Design
The archlum team approach any project specification by studying three aspects:
- The ambient mood
- The accent
- The task lighting
An understanding of those aspects is needed for defining a degree of design freedom which allow us to specify optimal lighting solutions.
If no existing solution is available, each project may have partially or full customisation.
Fitting Development
At the stage of technical fitting development, the archlum team goes through an application study, whereby electro-mechanical, optical, thermal challenges are solved concerning project architecture and interior design.
On high-complexity projects, archlum prefers to collaborate with established industry leaders such as Bartenbach GmbH, with whom we have been cooperating for many years on both levels of project design as well as special fittings developments.
Manufacturing
At the end of the lighting contract journey, the archlum team concludes the spec-to-build developed BOQ progressing to the next stage of manufacturing.
We coordinate the activity of our suppliers and subcontractors, focusing our attention on product quality control.
Once products are produced, they are gathered in our warehouse in Swansea UK and they await shipping to our customers.
